Once abandoned for nearly half a century, Peng Chau Theatre has been revitalised by local residents into a vibrant community hub, guided by the philosophy of “community symbiosis.” Its historical features have been preserved and integrated into contemporary life through varied events. Since reopening, the box office has hosted film screenings, quarterly markets, a retrospective exhibition of late stars, music performances, and a children’s “Kids Fest.” The theatre has also collaborated with universities and NGOs to hold academic conferences and environmental documentary screenings. These activities have transformed the theatre from a traditional cinema into a lively blend of art, culture, academia, and community life—connecting residents and inviting visitors to experience Peng Chau. It is now an experimental space, nurtured and shared by the community, bringing fresh cultural vitality to the island.
昔日荒廢近半世紀的坪洲戲院，如今由一班街坊蛻變為社區文化聚腳點。團隊本著「社區共生」的理念，保留建築的歷史面貌，並通過不同活動，把歷史融入現今的社區生活。自重新開放至今，戲院票務處舉行過主題電影放映會、季度市集、已故巨星展覽、音樂會，以及專為小朋友而設的「細路嘉年華」；亦曾與大學合辦學術會議，並舉行討論環境議題的紀錄片放映會及相關活動。多元化的活動，令戲院從昔日的觀映場所，轉型為融合藝術、文化、學術與社區生活的平台，連繫島上居民，同時吸引訪客體驗坪洲，成為由社區孕育與共享的構思實驗場，為這片小島注入嶄新的文化生命力。

延續《ISLANDERS島民》小誌的理念，南灣書店是一場持續中的生活實驗。它由「島民空間」（Islanders Space）演變而來，如今以獨立書店與自然酒舖為核心。

我們的選書，都是我們如何以「島民」這個身份與世界共處。書單包括：島嶼研究、海洋文化、生態學、氣候小說（Cli-Fi）、社群營造、都市研究與地圖學等等。

伴隨書店而生的自然酒舖 Lou，懷抱著相同理念。我們引進來自歐洲及世界各地、堅持自然動力法與永續釀造的小農葡萄酒。

透過不定期微型活動：讀書會、品酒夜、地圖工作坊、音樂會與展覽，我們逐漸成為島上其中一處安靜的鄰里聚點。

The bookshop is the current stage of an experiment that started as Islanders Space and now centres on a small bookshop and a natural wine shop.

The selection of books questions how we inhabit the world today, and particularly islands, by bringing together books about islands and maritime cultures, ecology, climate-fiction, community building, urban studies, cartography, and others.

The wine shop, Lou, shares a similar ecological commitment by offering wines crafted by small-scale vineyards from Europe and beyond, who commit to natural and biodynamic principles.
With pocket-size events—book clubs, wine nights, mapping workshops, music sessions, exhibitions—we became a quiet neighborhood gathering point.
