‘Finding the commons’ is a mapping experience that introduce participants to the observation of daily life and commoning practices in Peng Chau.

The activity engages participants in a playful hands-on experience where they can experience mapping and using tools of urban studies and ethnography to navigate and gain knowledge about the environment that surrounds them.

Finding the commons. Participants to the mapping workshop were brought to investigate a very widespread  commoning pratice on Peng Chau: caring for community animals. With an investigation leaflet that mimics the format and research process of Islanders zine, participants took a day or two to walk around the island, observe and record. Through this process, they developed a new type of attention to their environment.
